TU Dublin showcases innovation at first Green Campus Orchestration event
TU Dublin hosted its first Green Campus Orchestration event yesterday at the East Quad, bringing together innovators and internal and external stakeholders to highlight innovative sustainability projects developed under the Green Campus Open Calls 2024 and 2025.
The event featured 16 projects and welcomed over 25 attendees, including representatives from Dublin City Council and South Dublin County Council, alongside key university leaders such as TU Dublin’s Head of Decarbonisation, the Student Volunteering Coordinator, and members of the Green-Campus Committee.
The opening remarks from Jennifer Boyer, Vice President for Sustainability, emphasised the university’s commitment to embedding sustainability across all areas of campus life. Highlighting the importance of collaboration, the VP noted that initiatives like the Green Campus Open Calls empower both students and staff to develop practical solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
The address positioned TU Dublin’s campuses as living laboratories, where ideas can be tested, refined, and scaled, while also reinforcing the value of partnerships with public bodies and the wider community in advancing climate action.
The programme combined project showcases with interactive discussion, allowing participants to engage directly with innovators and explore opportunities for collaboration. The 16 projects presented reflected a wide range of sustainability themes, including waste reduction and circular economy approaches, energy efficiency, climate action, biodiversity, and health and wellbeing.
Presenters included students and staff, who shared both achievements and practical challenges, offering insights into how projects can move beyond pilot stages and be integrated into everyday campus operations. Engagement with local authority representatives highlighted the potential for aligning campus innovations with broader city-level sustainability goals, particularly in areas such as urban resilience, climate action, and community engagement.

The inaugural Green Campus Orchestration event marks a significant step in strengthening TU Dublin’s Green Campus Living Lab approach. By providing a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, the university is fostering a growing network of innovators committed to environmental change.
