University Sustainability Council approves new Green-Campus Committee Terms of Reference

Published: Thu Dec 18 2025 - 16:34

TU Dublin’s University Sustainability Council recently approved updated Terms of Reference for the Green-Campus Committee. Green-Campus was renewed in 2025 to create a Green-Campus network with local Green-Campus teams at each TU Dublin location. Five local teams have now been formed - one per campus at Aungier Street, Blanchardstown, Bolton Street, Grangegorman and Tallaght. Each local team has a staff and student representative on the Green-Campus Committee.

The role of the Green-Campus Committee is to lead the Green-Campus Network, TU Dublin's participation in the Green-Campus Programme and Green Flag award, and to engage with the five campus teams. The agreement of the Terms of Reference is a significant move forward to support the work of the Green-Campus Committee, and to enabling local action for sustainability across TU Dublin.

Speaking about the development Green-Campus Co-Chair Asfand Bakht Yar said:

“University Sustainability Council’s approval of the renewed Green-Campus Committee is a significant milestone for TU Dublin’s Green Flag Journey. The renewal of the Committee, alongside the establishment of five local Green-Campus teams across our campuses, creates a strong and inclusive framework for coordinated action. With these Terms of Reference now in place, the Committee is well positioned to lead the Green Flag process and to support locally driven sustainability initiatives that reflect the needs and strengths of each campus community”.
