SoMS hosts Neuroscience Symposium

The School of Mathematics and Statistics was delighted to host the 3rd All-Ireland Computational Neuroscience Symposium in the East Quad of Grangegorman on Monday 24 August. Co-organisers Dr John Butler and Dr Áine Byrne (UCD) put together a full day's schedule spotlighting computational neuroscience.
The symposium brought together researchers from across Ireland to present their work using approaches ranging from differential equations to machine learning methods to model, analyse, and simulate neuroscience data.
There were six invited talks and 15 lightning talks, with topics ranging from using machine learning to model how the visual system develops in the womb and infancy, to modelling gap junctions in neurons to investigate epilepsy.
The symposium was supported by the School and Research Ireland.
