The School of Mathematics & Statistics works closely with employers, graduates, students and communities to provide important mathematics and statistics education and skills to support local and wider global growth and development. Our aim is to be inclusive and outward-facing and to partner with individuals and organisations to benefit society both nationally and internationally.
- We work with schools and communities via our outreach activities to encourage understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of mathematics
- We offer part-time. upskilling and back-to-college opportunities to help individuals to reach their potential
- We partner with companies to provide short professional development courses and expertise in statistics, statistical data analysis and applied mathematics
- We keep in close contact with graduates and alumni to provide a strong link between our current students and the wide range of sectors in which mathematicians and statisticians play a vital role
- We enlist the input of business and industry to ensure our programmes and graduates remain up-to-the-minute and provide the skills most needed by employers
- We collaborate with academic and private-sector colleagues in research and the applications of mathematics and statistics to address the important challenges facing us
