Enhancing Students' Motivation and Laboratory Participation

In this Tech-Ed for Good Video, Amanda O'Farrell, a Lecturer in the School of Enterprise Computing and Digital Transformation, TU Dublin describes how low-stakes assessment led to greater participation in laboratory sessions for a networking module taught to second year students.

Students were presented with self-correcting and synchronous feedback on lab work in each weekly session. The grades from these labs formed part of their grade for the module. The students were better motivated, participated to a greater level and attended every lab session. This led to a marked improvement in grades from their previous networking module. Win Win!
