Alun Jones Lecture - 'Thoughts alone leave no traces...'

We're delighted to invite to all SABE staff and students to attend a lecture by Alun Jones, director of Dow Jones Architects on Friday April 28th at 1-2pm in Rm. 281, Bolton St. 
Lecture Title:  'Thoughts alone leave no traces…' 
Alun is a former External Examiner on the BArch programme and his visit is funded as part of the Resilient Design Curricula project.

Alun Jones
Director, Dow Jones Architects
Alun was born in Wales and studied architecture at the Universities of Bath and Cambridge and wrote an MPhil on
Alberti’s work in Mantua. Prior to establishing Dow Jones Architects he was project architect for the Walsall Art
Gallery with Caruso St. John. Alun has taught, been a visiting critic, and external examiner at a number of
architecture schools in the UK and Ireland, and has been involved with TU Dublin for the past 15 years. He has
lectured in many cities in Europe and in China and writes on architectural matters.
Dow Jones Architects
Dow Jones Architects was established in 2000, and their wide-ranging body of work has won numerous awards and
been published internationally. Dow Jones Architects has developed a reputation for making carefully crafted
contemporary architecture often in complex heritage settings. Their work has a strong interest in the relationship
between materials and place and what this might say about culture. Recent projects include the Garden Museum in
London, the Maggie’s Centre in Cardiff, and a Passivhaus in Cornwall. They are currently working with the Leach
Pottery and Museum in St Ives, the Refurbishment of Bevis Marks Synagogue in London, and the remodelling of the
Swiss Embassy in London.
