Amin Taha is Chairman of award-winning London architectural office Groupwork. The practice's buildings are highly original and predicated on a thorough historical, contextual and collaborative research approach. Their built projects include domestic, commercial, renovation and residential work.
Groupwork’s 15 Clerkenwell Close was shortlisted for the 2021 Stirling Prize, the UK’s most prestigious architecture award. The 15 Clerkenwell Close building was designed by Groupwork to demonstrate the possibilities of using stone as a building's structure as a low carbon alternative to concrete. Taha’s research on materials and construction systems for decarbonising construction place Groupwork at the forefront of architectural practice designing for the climate crisis.

Knowing material properties, their cost, structural and thermal performance, embodied carbon as well as their tactile texture allows for more than poetic assembly. It’s how we regain agency for better client and broader social outcomes.

It is how we turn construction from a 40% contributor of man-made atmospheric carbon to a sequestration industry. Make ourselves part of the answer, no longer the problem.
