As part of the Dublin Festival of History, Fatima Groups United is hosting Resilience: From Migration to Regeneration, a special event exploring how migration, identity, and community transformation shape the evolving story of Ireland.
A highlight of the event will be a talk by Dr Jun Ni of TU Dublin, titled:
“Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Identity Reconstruction of Chinese Migrant Women in Ireland.”
Dr Ni’s research focuses on the journeys of Chinese women as they navigate the challenges of migration—overcoming culture shock, breaking down barriers, and ultimately reconstructing their sense of self in a new country. Her talk will explore the mutual challenges of integration, highlighting how both migrants and host communities play vital roles in building a more inclusive society.
As Ireland grows more diverse, Dr Ni’s work provides timely insights into the complexities of migration and identity, offering a deeper understanding of what it means to belong in today’s interconnected world.
The event also features talks on Ireland’s 2022 Regularisation Scheme, the experiences of Irish emigrants after the 2009 crash, and the regeneration of Dublin’s iconic Fatima Mansions. A panel discussion, audience Q&A, and a closing performance by Eileen Bray will round out the programme.
