Two School of Media Lecturers Nominated for Justice Media Awards

Published: 29 May, 2025

Two TU Dublin School of Media have been nominated for the prestigious Law Society of Ireland’s Justice Media Awards.

Stephanie Costello, who lectures in Journalism, and Aoife Kelleher, who is the programme chair of the BA in Screen Industry Practice and lectures in cultural theory and Documentary practice, have both been nominated for the longest-running media awards in Ireland.

Stephaine is nominated in two categories: Print/Online Journalism (local) and Human Rights/Social Justice Reporting (print/online) for her piece published in the Dublin Inquirer on Terence Wheelock

Aoife is nominated in the category Human Rights/Social Justice Reporting (broadcast) for the feature-length documentary Testimony, which she directed and co-wrote. The documentary chronicles the fight for justice by survivors of Ireland's Magdalene Laundries and Mother and Baby Homes. Testimony has already won the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) Human Rights Film Award at the Dublin International Film Festival.

Congratulating Stephaine and Aoife, Dr Caroline O’Sullivan, Head of School of Media, remarked, “This is a tremendous achievement for both colleagues, each of whom exemplifies the exceptional calibre of staff within the School of Media. These nominations are yet another testament to the leadership and influence of TU Dublin staff in their respective industries, and to the School of Media's ongoing commitment to give voice to the matters that impact on society”

We extend our warmest congratulations to Stephanie and Aoife and wish them the very best of luck at the upcoming awards, which will be announced by the Law Society of Ireland in June.
