Final-Year Pharmaceutical Healthcare Students Visit Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute
On Thursday, 16 October 2025, final-year students from the Pharmaceutical Stream of the BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Healthcare (TU875) programme visited the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute (TBSI) at Trinity College Dublin for an engaging and insightful facility tour.
The visit, organised by Year Tutor Dr Tao Zhang, formed part of the programme’s commitment to extending learning beyond the classroom and providing students with valuable exposure to real-world scientific environments.
During the visit, students explored state-of-the-art research laboratories and gained first-hand insight into advanced analytical techniques central to pharmaceutical science. Highlights of the tour included:
- Observing Ireland’s latest 800 MHz NMR spectrometer in operation
- Learning about X-ray crystallography and how molecular structures are determined from electron density maps
- Visiting the LC–MS facility to see how analytical chemistry drives pharmaceutical research and innovation
The experience offered students an excellent opportunity to connect theoretical learning with practical applications, deepening both their scientific understanding and professional awareness.
