TU Dublin combines the academic quality of a traditional university with career-focussed learning, discovery and the application of knowledge. It emphasises excellence in learning, teaching, scholarship, research and support for entrepreneurship.

The School of Food Science and Environmental Health Level 8 courses offer work placement opportunities nationally and internationally in public bodies and private industry. 

Students will enter work placement with scientific and technical knowledge and hands on skills developed through extensive training in TU Dublin laboratories. 

The School of Food Science and Environmental Health encourage students to avail of Erasmus exchange during their degree programmes. 

Students can do a study semester abroad or a placement abroad with affiliated Universities as part of the Erasmus exchange programme. 

Students on courses in the School of Food Science and Environmental Health may get opportunities to undertake projects through the TU Dublin Students Learning with Communities initiative. 

Courses in the School of Food Science and Environmental Health are professionally recognised. The BSc Environmental Health is recognised by bodies including the Environmental Health Association of Ireland and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland. The MSc in Environmental Health and Safety is accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).

The School of Food Science and Environmental Health supports the aims of the FSAI’s food reformulation taskforce which seeks to reduce calories, saturated fat, sugar and salt in the Irish diet through the reformulation of specific foods. In supporting the reformulation taskforce, the School is contributing technical expertise, incorporating reformulation in our food science programmes and is seeking to partner with industry on reformulation research projects.
