Oireachtas Committee Visit
The School welcomed members of the Oireachtas Education Committee, Jim O'Callaghan, TD, and Paul Kehoe, TD, during their tour of the CQ Quad building and Grangegorman campus with TU Dublin President David FitzPatrick and Dean of Sciences and Health, Prof. John Doran. They were brought to the Food Processing Hall and Sensory Science suite, where they met with Dr. Lubna Ahmed and students in a Food Processing practical session, and also to the new Brewing and Distilling suite, funded through the HCI 'Convene' project, where they met with Dr. Rena Barry-Ryan, who explained the use of the facility to support industry training and research. PhD researchers Ekene Umego and Maame Manful explained his research in Brewing and Distilling, and Maame Manful spoke about promoting a safe and sustainable food system by ensuring novel and upcycled ingredients are safe in the Up4Health project.
