The Green Chemistry Biocatalysis Group at Technological University Dublin has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Researcher.

Duration: The contract will be for one year only. This is a short-term appointment and will not be extended beyond 1 year.

Research Area: The group is focussed on Green Chemistry approaches to bioremediation and biocatalytic synthesis of industrial compounds. The main approach employs enzymes (lipases, glucosidases, proteases, dehydrogenases) in areas such as plastics degradation, synthesis of; bioactive glucosides, indole derivatives, novel oligosaccharides, novel bioactives and fragrance compounds. Some of these compounds are envisaged as novel therapeutics (antifungal/anticancer/antibacterial).

The diverse nature of the projects is appropriate to a generalist with a broad range of experience and technical skills. Useful skills should include: spectrophotometry, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, cloning and plasmid manipulation, protein measurement and chromatography.

Qualifications:

Ideally, the successful candidate would have strong communication skills and have experience of student mentoring and supervision.

Role: The role will involve the carrying out of research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator as well as the supervision and mentoring of postgraduate students based in the Greenway Hub research laboratories on the TU Dublin Gramgegorman campus.

Hours of Work: This is a wholetime post and attendance is required from Monday to Friday during the general working hours of the School and University. 

Location: The post will be based at the TU Dublin Campus, Grangegorman.

Salary: It is expected that appointees will commence at point 01 of the relevant pay scale i.e. Post-Doctoral Researcher Salary Scale (SFI).
