Quad Quest, an event among the suite of Revealing Grangegorman events, provided a fun and interactive day for families and the public. The Sensory trial was organised by Dr. Lubna Ahmed from the School of Food Science and Environmental Health to engage their senses to appreciate the relevance of touch, taste, sight, and smell in our eating experience and took place at the Central Quad, located within the TU Dublin City Campus, on Saturday, 3rd June 2023, from 12 pm to 4 pm. It was aimed to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and public understanding by making sensory science accessible and enjoyable.

The event received a diverse range of attendees including families with children, students, professionals, and members of the public who participated in a variety of exciting sensory science activities. The activities allowed participants to identify various food items solely by their textures, without relying on sight. Participants also sampled crisps from different brands, to identify subtle sensory differences. Additionally, participants were able to visually examine different food samples and understand how colours influence our association with specific food flavours.

The event created an educational atmosphere by engaging participants of all ages to explore and appreciate the science behind our everyday eating experience. Additionally, attendees had the opportunity to learn about the programs offered by the School of Food Science and Environmental Health.
