The School of Food Science and Environmental Health, along with the School of Culinary Arts and Food Technology welcomed a delegation from the University of Helsinki on Thurs 29th Jan.
The delegation included Professor Mari Sandell the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry and Dr. Janna Pietikäinen the Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs and Sustainability who provided an overview of their faculty and an outline of their development of a new Master’s programme with focus on international food business and gastronomy.
TU Dublin presentations from the School of Food Science and Environmental Health included an overview of the teaching and research activities (Dr Gemma Kinsella), along with details integration of sustainability competences in food curricula by Dr Rena Barry Ryan and on building stakeholder engagement into the curriculum by Dr Julie Dunne. Dr Ciaran O’Carroll, of the School of marketing and entrepreneurship provided detail on an International, sustainability-focused partnership collaboration. From the School of Culinary Arts and Food technology, Dr Denise O’Leary provided an overview of the School while Dr Roisin Burke provided detail on Food Innovation and Product Design programme and Margaret Connolly on Food business and marketing.
The presentations were followed by a tour of School facilities in the Central Quad and a discussion of possible future collaborations.
