Welcoming a Delegation from IES Marratxí, Spain
On 26 March 2026, the School was pleased to welcome a delegation from the Pharmacy Technician Programme at IES Marratxí (Institut d’Educació Secundària Marratxí), Spain, led by Ms Luciana Guiscardo.
The visit commenced with a welcome from Dr Gemma Kinsella, Head of Discipline, who provided an overview of the School and its academic activities. Dr Tao Zhang, Programme Chair, introduced the Pharmacy Technician Studies programme at TU Dublin, highlighting the innovative approaches adopted to support teaching, learning, and the overall student experience.
As part of the visit, Dr Seána Hogan, the School’s in-house pharmacist, led a tour of the dispensing laboratory facilities, offering insight into the programme’s practice-based learning environment. Dr Uma Tiwari, School Erasmus Coordinator, also contributed to discussions on opportunities for future collaboration, particularly in relation to student and staff mobility.
The delegation expressed particular interest in the programme’s strong emphasis on real-world and experiential learning. During their visit, they observed our pharmacy technician first-year students actively engaging in a student-led initiative, organising a bake sale in support of LauraLynn, Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, reflecting the applied, community-engaged, and student-centred nature of the programme.
The School looks forward to strengthening this international partnership and to developing future collaborative opportunities that will further enhance the learning experience for both students and staff.
