Talk by Dr. Dima Maneuski from the University of Glasgow
We recently had a visit from Dr. Dima Maneuski from the University of Glasgow. He gave a very interesting presentation titled "Particle Physics Detectors: from CERN to Society".
Dima's presented on CERN, with a focus on particle physics detectors and the Medipix Hybrid Pixel Detector.
His presentation covered the following topics:
- CERN: Its history, mission, and experiments.
- ATLAS ITK Upgrade: The Phase-II Upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider and the inner tracking detector of the ATLAS experiment.
- Medipix Hybrid Pixel Detector: What it is and how it works, including examples of its applications.
Dima also discussed CERN’s technology spin-offs and the involvement of TU Dublin students in cross-country collaboration and technology development.
