Bachelor of Technology in Construction Site Management
My name is Oisín Murphy. I am a construction site foreman currently working for John Sisk & Son. I come from a trade background, training as a carpenter, I joined Sisk in 2011 and completed my four-year apprenticeship for which I received a distinction. I was awarded apprentice of the year by Dun Laoghaire Further Education Institute (DFEI) in 2014 and began work as a trainee foreman for Sisk thereafter. I graduated from Technological University Dublin this winter with a Bachelor of Technology in Construction Site Management. I completed this part-time course in conjunction with my full-time job and received the Ivan Webb award from TU Dublin from the Master Builders and Contractors Association (MBCA) for outstanding achievement.
To date, I have experience in a management role co-ordinating, supervising and planning construction work from initial groundworks and service coordination to final finishing and handover of projects. I am fortunate to have been involved on large scale projects in the commercial and residential sector while also experiencing smaller scale projects. Each presenting their own challenges, I have enjoyed the progression to a successful delivery of each project.
I enjoy working as part of an elite team where attention to detail can achieves excellent results. I have enjoyed seeing my plans develop and culminate as part of the finished project. Looking ahead, I hope to gain more experience and knowledge obtained through the industry. I am currently in a site foreman role managing enabling works for St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Dublin prior to the construction of the new National Maternity Hospital.
