Yes, it is a requirement that your current line manager be listed as a referee on your application.
References are typically sought after the interview process, once a provisional offer has been made. HR will contact your referees at that stage, so please inform them in advance.
The University has introduced a Blended Working Policy and details of this can be found here. Under this policy, staff can make an arrangement with line managers and apply for a number of days at home/onsite. This can be discussed directly with your line manager upon completion of your initial onsite training period.
