TU Dublin Financial Assistance Schemes

  • Documentation Required with each application (*some applications require additional documentation please see below.)
  • 3-page SUSI Grant Award Letter inclusive of the reckonable income page with your application.
  • If not receiving SUSI, 3 payslips from both parents or Social Welfare statements are required.
  • Student’s own Bank Account details (must match the applicant) – Name, Address IBAN & BIC.
    NOTE: Students cannot apply for Financial Assistance to cover tuition fees/repeat fees.  Students must be registered prior to submitting their application.

Eligible

  • Full-time Registered students
  • Part-time Registered students
  • Combined household income of €80,000


Not Eligible

  • Non-Registered Students (i.e.2025/26 academic year)
  • Apprentice
  • Students paying International rate of fee for their programme
  • Erasmus/Exchange Students
  • Postgrad paid research Students
  • Access Students who have already been granted Access Financial Assistance in current academic year
  • Students can ONLY apply for General SAF OR the Rent Assistance Scheme, Students cannot apply for both schemes.

General Student Assistance Fund

  •  Support: For full-time/part-time students facing financial difficulties.

Rental Scheme

  • Support: For students in formal rental agreements.
  • Max Award: €2,800 per academic year.
  • Eligibility: Students not normally residing in Dublin or Independent living due to personal circumstances.
    * Extra Documentation: Lease/rental agreement or proof of rent payment.

Childcare Assistance Fund (CAF)

  • Support: For students with children in registered childcare.
  • Max Funding: €2,200 .
  • Eligibility: Children must be enrolled in a registered crèche or childminder.
    * Extra Documentation: Birth certificate for children referred to in application, Contract from Creche/Childminder.

Class Materials Fund

  • Support: For students in programs with high material costs, programs under this scheme are:
    • Fine Art TU974,
    • Visual Art TU977,
    • Interior Design TU975,
    • Visual Communications TU973,
    • Architecture TU832,
    • Graphic Design TU381,
    • Architectural Technology TU831,
    • Photography TU976,
    • Optometry (Year 2) TU871,
    • Culinary Arts (Year 1) TU942,
    • Visual Merchandising & Display TU795
  • Award amount: Up to €500  

Compulsory Travel Fund

  • Support: For mandatory travel as part of academic programs (not for Erasmus).
  • Award amounts:  
    • Within Ireland: €200
    • Europe: €500
    • Outside Europe: €2,000.
      * Extra Documentation: Letter confirming trip necessity from School along with proof of costs required.

Dental/Ophthalmic Fund

  • Support: For routine dental or ophthalmic treatments.
  • Max Award: 75% of costs (up to €300).
  • Students must contact Financial Aid for application for scheme and will be required to submit receipts.
