TU Dublin Library Services fosters a heartfelt love of learning and is at the centre of academic and community life in the University. Library Services is the gateway to the global knowledge base for students, staff, and researchers. We support, partner, and play a key role in the learning, teaching, research, and engagement activity of TU Dublin.

Through Space, People, and Resources we deliver services that are innovative, supportive, trusted, open, unique, diverse, equitable, accessible to all, creative, and evolving — in order to align with the mission and goals of the University, our stakeholders, and our wider community.

The mission of TU Dublin Library Services is to support the learning, teaching, research, and engagement activity of the University through the provision of excellent resources, facilities, and services for all stakeholders in a timely and proactive manner.

TU Dublin Library Services delivers its vision through state-of-the-art facilities, expertise, and partnerships — both internal and external — spanning university, community, industrial, commercial, and societal contexts. TU Dublin is a dynamic organisation serving the needs of a wide range of people, and Library Services reflect this by serving the learning needs of a diverse student base, the support needs of staff and researchers, and the social needs of the wider communities in which the university is located.

The TU Dublin Library Services Collection Development Policy document is available to download as a PDF. It outlines the principles and criteria used by the library to select, acquire, and manage its physical and digital collections.

There are different procedures depending on whether you are a current TU Dublin student or staff member, or an external party.

For current TU Dublin students and staff: All requests to film in any of the libraries must be sent in writing via email to Ann Marie Barrett, Communications and Engagement Librarian. An Event Risk Assessment form (available from the TU Dublin Health and Safety Office or Library Services) must be completed and submitted to Library Services at least 7 days in advance of the filming. The request should include a copy of the scene(s), crew contact details, the expected duration of filming, the exact location within the library, and any movement of library books or furniture required. All student film crews must be accompanied by a member of staff at all times. Unsupervised filming in libraries is not permitted.

  • For external (non-TU Dublin) parties: Any requests for photography or filming by an external crew should be referred to the Media Relations Office. The Media Relations Office will liaise with Ann Marie Barrett, Communications and Engagement Librarian, to arrange any photography or filming.

All library users must abide by the following regulations:

  • All library users must have their current TU Dublin University ID card and produce it when requested by a member of library staff. University ID cards may only be used by the person registered on the card.
  • The person registered on the University ID card is responsible for all material borrowed on that card.
  • All materials borrowed from the libraries must be returned by the due date. Borrowers with overdue material may not be allowed to borrow additional items or renew other items until all overdue items are returned. Replacement costs may be charged on items not returned or lost.
