Dr Ziene Mottiar is a senior lecturer and researcher in the School of Hospitality Management and Tourism at TU Dublin. She serves as Programme Chair for the BSc (Hons) Tourism Management and BSc (Hons) Hospitality Management programmes and leads the undergraduate and postgraduate thesis process. Her teaching spans entrepreneurship, tourism development, food tourism, and tourism research.
She is an active and well-established researcher in tourism and hospitality, with a strong record of publications and funded projects. Her research focuses on entrepreneurship and social enterprise in tourism, local and regional development, the circular economy, food tourism, and global citizenship. She supervises doctoral research in these areas and is an experienced PhD examiner.
Dr Mottiar also has a strong profile in teaching and learning research and curriculum innovation. She has held national and European teaching and education research awards and fellowships, and was a co-investigator on the large-scale Erasmus-funded Next Tourism Generation project. Her work reflects a sustained commitment to impactful research, engaged pedagogy, and the development of future-focused tourism and hospitality education.
