Background

Dedicated microbiologist with over ten-year experience in ensuring safety of foods and food processing environments through in vitro and in silico research as well as policy-based activities. Following my PhD in 2017, I participated in the European Food Risk Assessment Fellowship Programme (EU-FORA) funded by EFSA where I refined my understanding about food safety risk assessment aimed to ensuring my preparedness for future risk analysis needs, therefore becoming a risk assessor. Previously a postdoctoral researcher in two projects- MetaResistBugs (University of Leon, Spain) and DAFM funded HortAssure (Teagasc Food Research Centre, Ireland) by addressing public health issues associated with foodborne pathogens at the animal-human-environment interface. Other projects included SafeConsumE, SafeFood, Listware, and Promise where I conducted research tasks or be involved in the administrative work for their implementation. Other roles beside teaching are serving as an Individual Scientific Advisor for European Food Safety Authority, European Commission Expert for evaluating EU funding proposals and COST Expert. I am also in the Executive Committee of the Sustainability Health Research Hub (SHRH), Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance and One Health (CAMROH), Green Chemistry & Biotechnology Centre, and Health and Safety SoFSEH Committee. Serving as topic editor of “Food Safety in the Context of One Health: Current Trends, Challenges and Perspectives”- Frontiers in Microbiology.
