Cyber Physical Server Benchmarking Platform
TFES built and operates the Cyber Physical Server Benchmarking Platform, the only facility of its kind in Ireland. It is a fully instrumented, autonomously controlled closed-loop test facility that holds server inlet conditions steady to within one degree and settles in under two seconds after a step change in load, so air and hybrid air-liquid cooling technologies can be compared like for like. Work on the platform has already demonstrated fan power reductions of 20 to 30%, and it is used to measure the real energy cost of running data centres warmer, for servers and AI hardware.

Flow and thermal diagnostics
Particle image velocimetry for velocity fields, infrared thermography for surface temperatures, and purpose-built rigs for jets, microchannels, droplets and battery modules.

Computational resources
Commercial and open-source CFD and multiphysics codes, building and facility energy simulation, and access to national and European high-performance computing, including ICHEC and MeluXina.
