Computer Science International (TU858) at Technological University Dublin is a dynamic, future-focussed and globally-oriented Level 8 honours degree that blends foundational computer science with real-world skills, international experience and language learning. You will build core expertise in programming, artificial intelligence, software development, computing systems and problem-solving while gaining cultural agility and global teamwork skills valued by employers worldwide.

From your first year, you will learn how computing drives innovation across industries such as tech start-ups, finance, healthcare, games, digital services and more. This programme integrates mandatory foreign language study (such as Chinese, Korean or German) and the opportunity to work collaboratively with students from partner universities to prepare you for careers where technology and diverse global contexts intersect.

Throughout the four-year degree you will benefit from TU Dublin’s strong industry engagement, including collaborative projects, access to state-of-the-art labs and opportunities to showcase your work in industry fairs. In Year 3, you will participate in an international experience choosing from an international industry placement, a one semester exchange in a partner university or a full year exchange as part of a double degree programme with one of our partner universities across the globe. Students in year 3 also complete Global Classroom, a cross-border virtual team experience that mirrors the way global tech teams operate. This emphasises the importance of globalisation and simulates how a team can design and develop software with team members in different locations. These experiences build practical experience, cultural confidence and connections with future employers.

Graduates leave with the recognised skills needed for long-term success in the future digital economy. You will be ready for careers in software engineering, systems development, data analytics, cybersecurity, cloud computing, AI and emerging tech roles. With a strong foundation in computer science, you are well placed for opportunities in multinational tech companies, start-ups, consultancy, research, or further study.

Study Abroad Opportunities

The International experience is a core mandatory component of our programme. All students must spend at least one semester abroad studying in one of our partner universities. Popular destinations amongst our students are Germany, Finland, South Korea, the Netherlands, Switzerland amongst others. There are also opportunities for spending all of Year 3 (2 semesters) studying abroad, participating in our double-degree courses in either Germany, Finland or South Korea.

Work Placement

Alternatively, instead of spending a semester studying in one of our partner universities, students can undertake an International Industrial Placement in an IT company outside of Ireland.
