Dr Ana Elena Schalk Quintanar is Academic Developer Artificial Intelligence Specialist at the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Team in TU Dublin. She leads on the AI Plan in Teaching and Learning across Faculties, participates in Academic Integrity Committee, and the Faculty of Computing, Digital, and Data AI Taskforce, and contributes to EUT+ Work Package 2 “Digital Transformation”. She is also leading, at the University level, at the EU Association (EUA) Learning & Teaching Thematic Group ‘Preparing students and teaching staff for a world marked by AI’ (2026-2027).
Ana was an Academic Developer and Digital Learning Lead at Trinity College Dublin, where she led strategic initiatives in digital learning and the pedagogically and responsible, informed use of Generative AI in higher education. With over 30 years of international experience spanning higher education, educational innovation, quality assurance, digital transformation, and academic leadership, she has worked across universities, government agencies, international organisations, and industry in Europe and Latin America.
Ana holds a PhD in Education from the University of Seville and has extensive expertise in curriculum development, academic professional development, learning analytics, online and blended learning, and the implementation of emerging technologies in teaching and learning. She has led and contributed to numerous national and international projects funded by organisations including the Higher Education Authority, the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, UNESCO, and the OEI.
A recognised scholar and practitioner, Ana has published widely on digital education, learning analytics, quality enhancement, and artificial intelligence in higher education. She currently contributes to international, national, and sector-wide initiatives advancing responsible, evidence-informed approaches to AI and digital learning across Irish higher education.
