Claire is an Academic Developer with extensive experience in the development of learning and teaching in higher education. She contributes to the LTA’s wide-ranging academic professional development provisions, co-ordinates and teaches on the MSc Education, and teaches on the Postgraduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching. She is a Fellow of the UK Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) and the UK Higher Education Academy. Together with Dr Róisín Donnelly and Dr Kevin O’Rourke, she co-edits the Irish Journal of Academic Practice (IJAP).

Before joining TU Dublin, Claire was Learning Technologist at Maynooth University, mainstreaming a virtual learning environment across the university, and managing a wide range of projects in teaching development and digital education. From 1998-2004 she worked in academic development roles in the UK at the University of Surrey and University College London (UCL). Claire holds a BA and PhD from Trinity College Dublin, an MA from the University of Kent, MA in Open and Distance Education from the UK Open University, and postgraduate certificates in learning and teaching from UCL and the UK Open University.
