PRIDE 2025

Published: 28 May, 2025

We would like to wish our LGBTQ+ Staff, Students, and wider community a very happy, and proud, Pride Month!

Pride month provides an opportunity to reflect on LGBTQ+ history, honour those who have fought for LGBTQ+ liberation, celebrate progress made, and draw attention to the injustices and discrimination still facing the community.

If you would like to learn more about Pride and Queer history, here are some resources and supports, as recommended by staff at TU Dublin:

Title Description
Ireland Said Yes Comedian Shane Daniel Byrne celebrates 10 years of marriage equality in 'Ireland Said Yes'. He'll take you on an emotional journey exploring the decades-long fight for same-sex marriage. From the deeply personal stories of LGBTQIA activism and resistance, Shane explores the cultural shifts that eventually made the historic 2015 referendum possible. Shane interviews the key players and unsung heroes of the Yes campaign, including drag royalty Panti Bliss, former President of Ireland Mary McAleese and TV presenter Brendan Courtney among many others.
The Log Books

What if you could glimpse into LGBTQIA+ life from decades ago? Since 1974 volunteers at Switchboard, the LGBT+ helpline, have written notes in the charity's log books. Hosts Tash Walker and Adam Zmith are re-opening these pages today, to explore untold stories from Britain’s queer history.

Each episode explores a different theme from LGBTQIA+ life through log book entries, dozens of voices sharing their own memories, and conversations about being queer today.
