TU Dublin marked Climate Action Week 2025 with a lively series of events across campuses, celebrating community, creativity, and collective action for a sustainable future.

Hundreds of students, staff, and partners took part in exhibitions, workshops, talks, and clean-up activities throughout the week.

STAND Exhibition and Global Justice Fair

STAND exhibition

The STAND Outdoor Exhibition: What If? invited visitors to explore themes of climate justice and global citizenship through powerful visual storytelling.

 STAND FAIR

Later in the week, TU Dublin hosted the STAND Global Justice Fair, in collaboration with the Student Volunteering Services. The event brought together hundreds of students and staff, and featured interactive stands, a Sea Aquarium exhibition, and VR headsets from Sight Savers. The Aquarium proved a particular favourite, sparking curiosity about marine conservation.

Sustainable Education Events

A series of events organised by the Sustainable Education team explored what we can do to collectively contribute to a future that is fair and just for all within the means of our planet. Many of these activities were also connected to the ‘Global Donut Days organised by Doughnut Economics Action Lab to celebrate and inspire local action and global connection with doughnut economics.

 Climate Fresk CAW

Through engaging and interactive games such as ‘Futures 2050’ and ‘Climate Fresk’, participants explored impact of climate change and what climate action, mitigation and actions we need to take.

 TU Doughnut activity CAW

There were two ‘step into the doughnut’ activities too. It is an embodied activity where participants physically created two circles representing the planet’s limits and social needs, exploring and reflecting on how to live in the safe and just space between them.

 Film Screening

A highlight of the week was the screening of Listen to the Land Speak, featuring Manchán Magan, co-organised with Dublin South City Partnership. The event attracted a large audience for a powerful reflection on place, nature, and Irish identity. Documentary director Maurice O’Brien also joined us to share his insights on working with Manchán and the legacy of his work.

Creative Spaces

Climate Ambassador CAW

Creative initiatives such as the Climate Literacy Booth and Art for All organised by An Taisce Climate Ambassadors and the Library Elemental Lab Garden Launch in Tallaght showcased the power of art and shared spaces in building community awareness around climate action.

Community Clean-Ups and Outdoor Action

Litter Pick Grangegorman CAW

TU Dublin staff and students also took climate action outdoors. The Beach Clean-Up at Bull Island, along with litter picks in Grangegorman and Tallaght, saw volunteers come together to protect local environments and promote sustainable living across campuses.

Climate Action TU Dublin Event

CAW EVENT

The Climate Action TU Dublin Event was a space for researchers and academics to learn about the scope of TU Dublin's Climate Action Roadmap, gain knowledge and insights into the process of decarbonisation on campus and contribute to a Climate Action Ideas factory.

The event allowed participants to deepen their understanding of action to achieve the "national climate objective" and of how their research area and discipline can contribute to this, and to develop their network across disciplines and across the University.

A Shared Commitment

Across exhibitions, workshops, and community action, Climate Action Week 2025 brought the TU Dublin community together to learn, connect, and act for a more sustainable world.
