Join us at TU Dublin in collaboration with Dublin South City Partnership for an evening celebrating the deep connections between the Irish landscape, language, and heritage. This visually stunning film follows Manchán on his poetic journey into the soul of Ireland.

The series, which won the prestigious award for Best Cinematography at the 2025 Galway Film Fleadh, is a poetic journey into the soul of Ireland, revealing how the stories of the land are encoded in the words we use every day. The screening will be followed by a conversation with the documentary director, Maurice O'Brien.

This event is part of the Global Donut Days 2025, a four-day, community-led festival, held online and in-person around the world, centred on Doughnut Economics, happening 14-17 October 2025.

We are delighted to host this event as part of TU Dublin's Climate Action Week and third Global Doughnut Days.

About the Documentary: Listen to the Land Speak

The documentary unfolds from Winter Solstice to Bealtaine through Reek Sunday to Samhain, exploring how the stories and myths associated with the rivers, mountains and lands around us are crucial to unlocking aspects of how we need to rebuild our relationship with nature today. But it also becomes an unexpectedly personal story as Manchán realises that there is a serious illness within himself that makes him see these ancient sites and beliefs in a whole new light. You can read more about the documentary from RTÉ's Culture section here.
