TU Dublin students scoop eight awards at the Smarter Travel Student Awards 2025

Once again, TU Dublin students have dominated the finalist boards at the Smarter Travel Awards 2025 scooping eight awards including three first place winning projects. The event took place on Thursday, 24 April 2025, at an event at the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield, Dublin 7.

The Smarter Travel Awards saw over 260 finalists out of hundreds of participants from partners on the Smarter Travel programme. Seventy-seven projects were presented that encourage, support and enable sustainable and active travel on the commute to campus and beyond.

Under the Engineering & Innovation category, School of Media, Blanchardstown campus, Creative Digital Media student Lincoln Ero, claimed the Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship award with their winning project ‘ScootWorkz’.

Under the Social Marketing category, second year Advertising and Marketing Communications students based at the Tallaght campus in the School of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Orla Byrne, Jasmin Luca, Denize Kalnina, Weronika Kuczyńska, and Lucia McGinley, claimed the Marketing & Communications award with their winning project ‘Walk, Bike, Share – Show the planet that you care!

Under the Social Marketing category, postgraduate Sustainability Leadership students based at Aungier Street from the School of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Davi Costa , Heidi Kelly-Hogan, Katerina Kopecna claimed the Advocacy and Programmes  award with their winning project ‘Sustainable Travel Ambassador Programme

Under the Social Marketing category, postgraduate Digital & Content Marketing student Blessing Dosunmu based at Aungier Street from the School of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, claimed second place in the Marketing & Communications award with their project ‘Bingo Eco – Battle of the Campuses'

Under the Social Marketing category, Postgraduate Digital and Content Marketing student based at Aungier Street from the School of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Ellen Gribbon claimed Second place in the Advocacy and Programmes award with their project ‘Roll-On Roll-Off’.

Under the Engineering & Innovation category, School of Media, Blanchardstown campus, Creative Digital Media student Emma O’Connor, claimed third place in the Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship award with their project ‘Active More Often’.

Under the Social Marketing category, Postgraduate Digital and Content Marketing student based at Aungier Street from the School of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, Joy Mukoya, claimed third place in the Advocacy and Programmes award with their project ‘The Greenwheel Lock’.

Lecturer recognition awards were given to Hilda Burton, Niamh O’Hora and Roisin Vize, and thirty-three TU Dublin students were also finalists in four sub-categories.
