Carla brings over a decade of experience in sustainability, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration to this role and has worked across public, private, and non-profit sectors, contributing to environmental management, organisational innovation, and community-focused initiatives in Ireland and Brazil.
Before joining TU Dublin, Carla was an Innovation Officer at Research Ireland, where she led the delivery of more than 80 training sessions for 90+ research teams, supporting capacity-building in design thinking, theory of change, entrepreneurship, and communications. She also strengthened enterprise–academia partnerships and contributed to internal sustainability actions such as waste-reduction initiatives, and community engagement programmes.
Carla previously served as a Programme Officer at the Environmental Protection Agency, where she supported the development of organisational innovation tools, chaired the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion subgroup, and implemented lean improvements across procurement and customer service. She also represented the Dublin region on EPA’s Meitheal Committee, contributing to a range of company-wide initiatives.
Her private-sector experience includes her role as HSEQ Officer at Gavin & Doherty Geosolutions, where she led the transition to ISO 14001:2015 and maintained integrated quality, environment, and health and safety systems. She also contributed to sustainability communications and events through the Green IFSC initiative, including the national Sustainability Gathering.
Carla’s non-profit experience spans community development, environmental education, and youth engagement. She has coordinated award-winning environmental projects with Junior Chamber International Dublin as Community Officer, overseen national projects as Community Director, and supported ECO-UNESCO’s Young Environmentalist Awards. Earlier in her career, she managed national quality-award processes and best-practice forums at the Fundação Nacional da Qualidade in Brazil.
Carla holds a Professional Diploma in Creativity, Innovation and Leadership from UCD and a BA in Administration focused on Environmental Management and she is committed to fostering inclusive, collaborative, and sustainability-driven innovation across the TU Dublin community.
