Building Change

The six Schools of Architecture in the Republic of Ireland (Technological University Dublin, University College Dublin, the University of Limerick, South East Technological University, Atlantic Technological University and the Cork Centre for Architecture Education, a joint initiative of University College Cork and Munster Technological University), have formed a national strategic partnership to deliver Building Change: Designing a Resilient Future through Architecture Education. This project is funded by the Government of Ireland, through the Human Capital Initiative, Pillar 3, administered by the Higher Education Authority.

The project, where TU Dublin is the lead partner, is undertaking a transformative process,  reconfiguring and revising the architecture curriculum to empower future graduates with the knowledge, skills and mind-set to address the sustainability challenges faced by society with particular focus on Climate Action (SDG 13.3) and Affordable Sustainable Housing (SDG 11.1), and as reflected in Irish government policies of Housing for All and the Climate Action Plan, and contextualised within the Places for People, National Policy on Architecture.

The Human Capital Initiative Strengthening Investment 2024 Call has awarded Building Change funding for a series of micro-credential programmes which address particular aspects of sustainability challenges facing the architecture profession and the construction industry more generally. These programmes will be of interest to professionals in architecture practice, industry practitioners in related disciplines, and architecture educators wishing to upskill.

The following programmes have been funded. These programmes will become available over the remainder of 2024 and into 2025, When delivery schedules have been finalised, links will be enabled to allow potential students to register.
