Rebecca Flanagan is a strategic communications and stakeholder engagement professional with 18 years’ experience spanning higher education, sustainability, and creative industries.
As Sustainability Events and Senior Media Coordinator at Technological University Dublin, Rebecca’s primary role is to establish TU Dublin’s international reputation and voice as a champion of sustainability as one of the world’s most sustainable universities. Working within Societal Engagement, Rebecca has responsibility for developing a comprehensive events and media campaign. This task presents an opportunity to raise awareness among TU Dublin staff, existing and prospective students, and the wider national and international community of the potential impact of sustainability-focused initiatives and best practice across TU Dublin’s academic and operational activities. Her work contributes to significant institutional achievements, including international sustainability recognition, sector awards, and the development of key strategic publications for the University. Rebecca is also the Communications Manager of the Green Campus Living Lab, and, along with Deirdre Mullen-McGuinness, is the Smarter Travel for Campuses programme coordinator for TU Dublin.
Rebecca brings extensive experience in translating complex ideas into accessible and engaging communications, building relationships across diverse stakeholder groups and delivering impactful, multi-channel campaigns. Previously, she held communications and engagement roles with An Taisce, working across national environmental education, sustainable travel and behaviour change programmes.
She holds a First-Class Honours MSc in Sustainable Development from TU Dublin, a Diploma in Public Relations Writing and a degree in Fashion Design from the National College of Art and Design.
