Aisling Dolan

Assistant Lecturer in Design Studies, Graphic Design and Tutor

Aisling teaches in the area of Graphic Design and Design Studies. She brings over 20 years of design and branding industry experience to the classroom, half of which she spent overseas in California and Edinburgh. Before joining TU Dublin she was a Creative Director of a leading Irish design consultancy.

Aisling holds a BA in Visual Communications from The College of Marketing and Design (DIT). She also qualified as an Arts in Group Facilitator in Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) in 2010 and brings these engaging teaching skills to her role as a lecturer today. 

Aisling is also an established fine art printmaker and long- time member of the Graphic Studio Dublin. She has exhibited her print-making nationally and internationally, including at the Royal Hibernian Academy and Royal Ulster Academy. 

Research Interests 

Aisling is currently doing a Research Masters with TU Dublin under the supervision of Dr Eamon Maher. Her research examines the connections, impact and effects of dyslexia on the creative mind. Her MA will be in an autoethnography style and her research will include an analysis of her educational, professional and creative life-journey.

  • (23 Nov 2022) International Postgraduate Research Seminar ‘Contextualising Trauma and Disadvantage’. 

TU Dublin, City Campus. As well as presenting her paper, Aisling designed the visual presentation for the event, and co-chaired the event. 

  • (June 2023) Through the National Centre for Franco- Irish Studies, invited to give paper for Creative Approaches to Public Space (CAPS) in Rennes University, France. Theme: ‘Can you Hear me?’. Paper title: ‘Rapport: A connection and an Understanding’. 
  • (Oct 2023) Presented my research to date at TU Dublin, City campus for the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
