Alex Gibson is a seasoned marketing educator and immersive media specialist with expertise at the intersection of marketing, technology, and experiential learning. Holding both a BSc in Management and an MBS, he brings a dynamic approach to teaching, blending industry engagement with academic innovation. 

Alex currently lectures on: 

  • Immersive Technology for Business (BSc Business & Management)
  • AR/VR Applications (MSc Creative Digital Media) 

He has previously served as Programme Director for several strategic programmes, including the MSc in International Business, BSc in Tourism Marketing, and BSc in Business & Management in collaboration with Pharos University in Alexandria, as well as the BSc in Event Management. 

Research & Publications 

  • Alex’s research is focused on immersive technologies, including virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) in business, marketing, and tourism education contexts.
  • Recent Presentation: Using Immersive Technologies in Soft Skills Development: Student Perspectives – 10th International XR Metaverse Conference, Maastricht (2025)
  • He has contributed to multiple international conference proceedings related to tourism marketing, XR, and emerging technologies in education. 

Industry Engagement 

As a Fellow of the Marketing Institute of Ireland (MII), Alex is highly active in the professional marketing community. He hosts a weekly marketing radio show, fostering direct engagement with industry leaders. Has chaired the National Marketing Conference. Serves as a regular judge for the MII Marketing Awards and Alex here to read Alex serves as a regular judge for the IAPI Young Lions Competition. His commitment to connecting students with the real-world marketing landscape is central to his pedagogical approach. 

Alex Gibson continues to champion the integration of immersive media into marketing education, shaping the next generation of business leaders equipped with both creative confidence and technological fluency.
