Ciara Gilmartin holds an MSc in Advertising and is currently pursuing a PhD focused on the commercial determinants of health, funded by the Irish Research Council and the Institute of Public Health. Her academic and professional work sits at the intersection of marketing, public policy, and social impact.
She teaches across multiple programmes at TU Dublin, including MSc Advertising, MSc Marketing, BSc Marketing, BSc Business & Management, and BSc Business &
Law. Her modules include Marketing, Digital Marketing, Strategic Marketing, and Client Leadership. Ciara is deeply committed to creating an inclusive, practice-oriented learning environment that connects students with real- world challenges. She actively integrates live case studies, client briefs, guest speakers, and international perspectives to foster industry relevance and student engagement.

Her PhD research critically examines corporate lobbying in Irish parliamentary debates, specifically in relation to the 2018 Public Health (Alcohol) Act. Through the use of discourse analysis, her work interrogates how commercial interests shape health policy and public narratives.

She is an active contributor to the ACORN network, engaging in cross-border academic discussions on alcohol policy and commercial influence in health.
