Jenny Thornton is a dedicated lecturer in marketing at TU Dublin with extensive experience in both strategic marketing education and student mentorship. She holds a BA in Marketing, a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching and Learning, a Diploma in Digital Marketing, and a Certificate in Counselling and Therapy, offering a unique, student-centred-approach to marketing education. 

Jenny teaches across undergraduate programmes, delivering a wide range of modules including: 

  • Fundamentals of Marketing 2
  • Introduction to Writing
  • Advertising and Communications
  • Multichannel Services Marketing Management
  • Effective Writing for Marketing
  • Marketing Strategy 1 & 2
  • Consumer Journey Mapping and Service Design 

Her teaching integrates both academic theory and practical experience, often incorporating live client projects to prepare students for real-world challenges. 

Research Interests 

Jenny’s primary research focus is on the importance of marketing strategy within digital marketing, examining how foundational principles continue to shape success in fast-evolving digital landscapes. 

Professional Engagement & Contributions 

  • Designed and led seven integrated live client modules in collaboration with external organisations through modules such as Marketing Strategy 1 and Strategic Marketing Technologies
  • Served as Year Tutor for fourth-year students (4 years) and second-year students (3 years), providing academic and pastoral support
  • Participated in the School of Sport development group, contributing to early-stage planning of a dedicated academic unit
  • Member of the working group exploring the viability of an Apprenticeship Programme in Marketing
  • Contributed to the programmatic review of the Digital Marketing curriculum, including integration initiatives with the Tallaght campus
