Abstract: Elementary Differential Geometry deals with the study of curves and surfaces and particularly interesting examples come from solving variational problems, like elastic curves, minimal surfaces and constant mean curvature surfaces. An integrable system is a hierarchy of infinitely many commuting flows which can be used to study the topology of moduli spaces of certain classes of geometric objects. In this talk I will explain some recent results obtained with these techniques. |
