Dr Butler @ International Multisensory Research Forum

Dr John Butler attended the 23rd International Multisensory Research Forum (IMRF), held from July 15–18 at Durham University. He delivered two talks presenting his collaborative work with his PhD student, Rebecca Brady, which uses mathematical models to simulate neuronal processes and behavioural responses involved in multisensory integration.

The first talk explored a model of visual and vestibular behavioural responses during self-motion perception, developed in collaboration with Professor Jennifer Campos at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.

The second presentation introduced a novel model proposing a link between cortical hierarchy and multisensory processing, suggesting that both the proportion of multisensory neurons and processing speed increase from primary sensory areas to higher-order decision-making regions. This research is conducted in collaboration with Professor Jennifer Bizley at University College London.
