Flexible, part-time, blended-learning opportunities in mathematics

Published: 28 Mar, 2023

From September 2023, we are offering opportunities to study mathematics and work towards our recognised, flexible part-time qualifications via blended, remote learning.

The move to blended learning is an exciting development offering even greater flexibility for our learners and opening our programmes to even more people.

Our two part-time programmes, TU078 Higher Cert in Mathematics and TU079 BSc (Ord) in Mathematics, will be offered as blended-delivery programmes. Lectures and tutorials will be delivered online, as a mixture of both synchronous events, on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 6.30pm – 9.30pm, and asynchronous events, via tailored recordings. Enriching and enhancing the learning experience for students and offering the opportunity to meet and discuss topics face-to-face with the lecturers and fellow students, there will be three in-person tutorial/laboratory evenings per semester onsite on our purpose-built campus in Grangegorman, Dublin. While students will be encouraged to attend these sessions, they will be given in a Hyflex modality: there will be a live broadcast and recordings available for those unable to attend.

Continuous assessments during the semester will be online or take-home work but end-of-semester final examinations will be in-person and onsite at TU Dublin, Grangegorman.

In order to fully engage with the programme, a student will need a strong dependable broadband connection and a good quality laptop/tablet with a microphone and a camera. Registration is required at least two weeks before the semester commences (18 September 2023) to ensure access to our virtual learning environment.

The School’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities now also include blended and online learning options and individual modules are available.
