Laura Cooke recently visited more of our students during their work placements in significant Irish employers.  Work placements are a fabulous opportunity for our third-year TU874 Mathematics & Statistics students to experience mathematics in action, solving real-world problems within important sectors and industries and develop valuable employment skills.  These skills make TU Dublin graduates amongst the most employable and in demand.

Abdullah Alrubian is undertaking his work placement with Teagasc, working with the Food Imaging and Digitalisation Group on the beautiful Ashtown campus. Abdullah is helping to develop image processing models for the food industry. Teagasc have cutting edge tools and technology, including AI-enabled vision systems to enhance monitoring and automation of product processing. The thumbnail image for this story shows Abdullah with his manager, Laura Alvarez Jubete.

Anastasiia Shyryvera is a third-year work placement student who is working with AIB as a Model Risk Intern. She has been immersed in the world of model risk and AI risk frameworks, and is learning about key policies and governance processes in this area. We would like to thank Mark Stapleton and his team for showing Anastasiia the ropes and providing her with this invaluable experience.

TU874/3 student Leo Mulhall is working as a Remediation Analyst at Aviva. His role provides him with invaluable experience in data correction, compliance and auditing. We are very grateful to Mark McKeown and Aviva for our long-standing partnership and for the support and guidance given to Leo throughout his placement.

We are immensely proud of all of our work placement students and wish them every success with the remainder of their placements and the completion of their studies.
