Mathematical Sciences lecturers amongst Teaching Hero awardees

Published: 1 May, 2021

On 29 April 2021, the National Forum for Enhancement of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education announced its award winners at the Student Achievement Awards. Two lecturers in the School of Mathematical Sciences were recognised as Teaching Heroes.

The Teaching Hero Awards are unique, representing the only student-led awards for teachers in higher education in Ireland.

Blathnaid Sheridan and Nicole Beisiegel, both lecturers in the School of Mathematical Sciences, were awardees in 2021 having been nominated for the excellence of their teaching and their commitment to student support and learning by the students themselves.  The School congratulates Blathnaid and Nicole and is very proud of the recognition of all the excellent teaching, support and preparation that took place last year to ensure that our students continued to enjoy engaging, high-quality learning despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

The awards are a collaboration with students’ unions and the fact that the nominations are provided by students makes the accolade all the more meaningful.
