Mathematics & Statistics at Open Day
The School of Mathematics & Statistics was delighted to showcase its range of programmes from undergraduate to postgraduate, professional development and research degrees at the recent TU Dublin Open Day on the Grangegorman Campus.
The modern Grangegorman campus, with its new academic student hub building (due to open to students for the academic year 2025/26), was the perfect setting on a sunny spring day to welcome the hundreds of prospective students visiting TU Dublin to learn about our programmes and the learning opportunities available. The School of Mathematics & Statistics was particularly delighted to talk about the renaming of it is successful full-time undergraduate programme on the CAO, TU874 BSc Mathematical & Statistics, and the new stream available to those students: BSc (Hons) Mathematics & Statistics for Data Science.
The latter programme has been designed to provide a rigorous mathematical background whilst exploring the tools and methodologies most required in data science and related professional roles. A combination of these skills is fundamental to the technical and highly sought-after analytical and decision-making roles in the field, and the work placement provided by our undergraduate degree programmes means that our graduates are ideally equipped to enter significant roles in this sector. Our work placement partner companies are chosen to provide our students with a range of opportunities to experience the available roles in different sectors. Entry to BSc (Hons) Mathematics & Statistics for Data Science is via TU874 on the CAO.
In addition, visitors to the open day had an opportunity not only to visit our computer laboratories where students learn the industry software skills they require for their careers and undertake real-world modelling but also to experience the excellent facilities provided by the beautiful campus including its sports facilities and recreational areas.
