The School of Mathematics & Statistics was delighted to welcome its new cohort of undergraduate students this September.

These students are the first to enter the programme TU874 BSc (Hons) Mathematics & Statistics via the CAO and have the opportunity to progress to either a degree in Mathematics & Statistics or choose the pathway of BSc (Hons) in Mathematics & Statistics for Data Science.  And the number of students on the programme is up, demonstrating the need for mathematics and statistics graduates and that our course is an excellent, flexible choice for anyone who loves problem solving and applying advanced mathematical and modelling skills to real-world challenges.

The new programme title is a continuation of the highly successful BSc Mathematical Sciences but reflects the wide range of mathematical and statistical skills which students develop - all within the context of using these in productive careers in technology, research and development, data analysis, finance and a wide range of other sectors.

We warmly welcome our new students and wish them every success in their learning journey.  We hope they will enjoy the wide variety of topics, applications and activities they will encounter on their course and during their time at University.
