Student placements at Bank of Ireland

Dr John Butler, a lecturer in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, TU Dublin, will once again be presenting his research in the fun, engaging and, most of all, entertaining atmosphere of the annual Pint of Science festival.
Between 19 May and 21 May Pint of Science will bring some of the most brilliant scientists to your local pub to discuss their latest research and findings. This year, seven researchers from TU Dublin will be talking about their work in the context of AI. One of the TU Dublin speakers is Dr John Butler from the School of Mathematics & Statistics.
On Wednesday 21 May, John will speak in Chaplin’s about NeuroAI - how maths and Neuroscience have inspired AI. His interactive talk will get the audience to act as neurons in a brain and nodes in an artificial neural network to experience how neuroscience experiments on detecting motion, like a Tiger, and maths have inspired machine learning algorithms.
You can read more about John's talk and those of other TU Dublin Researchers in this article AI on Tap.
John is also bringing the fun of mathematics to schools and is visiting the D7 Educate Together school 19 May and recently talked to transition-year students about the beauty and importance of mathematics at The High School.
John's presentation at the Pint of Science festival is part of NeuroFrontiers: AI, Biotech, and the Battle for Better Health and tickets for Pint of Science can also be found here.
