The School of Mathematics & Statistics was delighted to host Women in Mathematics Day Ireland.

The Women in Mathematics Day Ireland is a one-day conference coordinated by the Irish Committee for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Inclusion in Mathematics, a sub-committee of the Irish Mathematical Society, and, this year, it was hosted by the School of Mathematics & Statistics, TU Dublin on Tuesday 12 May 2026 on the Grangegorman campus.

The date, 12 May coincides with International Women in Mathematics Day, which honours the significant and underrepresented achievements and contributions of women in mathematics.

The event organisation was led by Dana Mackey and highlighted some of the influential research currently taking place across Ireland.  It was an enjoyable event with a great atmosphere and was greatly enjoyed by all participants.  More details of the event and its background (together with photographs and the schedule of events) can be found here.

Congratulations to Ann Paterson of Trinity College Dublin who won a gift and prize for her poster, An Iterative Block Matrix Inversion Algorithm for Symmetric Positive Definite Matrices with Applications to Covariance Matrices.

The School of Mathematics & Statistics was delighted to host this year's event, looks forward to many more years of success and would like to thank all participants, the IMS for its support and the organisers, Dana Mackey (chair), John Butler,  Laura Cooke, Lida Fallah, Chris Hills, Mercedes Jordan-Santana, Blathnaid Sheridan, Gurpreet Singh and Milena Venkova.
