Elizabeth Donovan is a researcher and teacher with expertise in a holistic approach to sustainable architecture. She specialises in the historical and discursive dimensions of the field, spanning from passive to regenerative design. Her research builds on the plethora of sustainable design approaches, highlighting the urgent need for systemic environmental and societal change in both the profession and education. Her work on sustainable architecture pedagogy led to her co-authoring "Designing for the Climate Emergency: A Guide for Architecture Students" and co-developing the education project ARCH4CHANGE, an open-source knowledge bank for climate emergency design.

Sofie Pelsmakers (she/her) has dedicated the past two decades to teaching, designing and researching sustainable architecture along three interconnected lines (sustainable living environments, housing design research and sustainable architecture pedagogy) that have a clear societal urgency and that are not limited to technological innovations but offer wider insights into socially and environmentally responsible design. At the Tampere School of Architecture (Finland), her collaborative work connects research, teaching and practice for the training of the architects of the future.  She authored  The Environmental Design Pocketbook, and co-authored 'People, Energy, Buildings- Making Sustainable Architecture Work' and 'Designing for the Climate Emergency: A Guide for Architecture Students'. She also co-guest-edited the first volume of the RIBA Design Studio Journal: 'Architecture and the Climate Emergency: Everything Needs to Change’ and was lead of the ARCH4CHANGE educational development project (www.arch4change.com).
