Dr. Sarah Rock is a transport planning, urban regeneration and urban design specialist with over 20 years’ experience in the public and private sector, as well as academia, both in Ireland and abroad. Sarah lectures in the School of Architecture, Building and Environment at TU Dublin. Dr. Rock has been leading TU Dublin’s research on the socio-economic and mobility impacts of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council’s ‘Covid Mobility and Public Realm Works’ programme since 2020, focusing on the reallocation of road-space to public realm and active travel infrastructure in Blackrock, Dundrum and along the Coastal Mobility Route.
Sarah holds a Doctorate in Transport Planning from the School of Civil Engineering at University College Dublin in addition to a Masters in Urban Development and Design; a Higher Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Design; a Professional Certificate in Urban Engineering, Design and Management of the Public Realm; and a Certificate in Accessibility Auditing.
Prior positions include Principal Transport Planner in Jacobs Engineering and the National Transport Authority; Specialist Urban Designer in PlaceMakers, the New South Wales Department of Planning and MCORM Architects.
