TU Dublin Team at Final Erasmus+ PharmTech Mobility Project Meeting
The Erasmus+ project, “PharmTech Mobility: Enhancing European Pharmacy Technician Exchange and Mobility”, reached a major milestone with its final in-person transnational meeting/dissemination event, held at the NH Brussels Grand Place Arenberg, Belgium, on 22–23 January 2026. The meeting, hosted by the European Association of Pharmacy Technicians (EAPT), brought together project partners from Ireland, Spain, Belgium and Portugal.
The TU Dublin team, Dr Tao Zhang (Project Lead), Dr Seána Hogan, Dr Gemma Kinsella, and Professor Christine O’Connor, joined colleagues from across Europe to disseminate the project’s key outcomes. As the overall project lead, TU Dublin has coordinated activities, frameworks, and research outputs throughout the initiative, supporting the advancement of pharmacy technician education, professional roles, and mobility across Europe.
The first day focused on dissemination of findings to a wide audience of educators, professional bodies, and sector stakeholders. Presentations highlighted comparative curriculum analysis, evolving scopes of practice, and the professional and transferable skills required to support workforce development and cross-border mobility. More than 70 participants from around the world engaged with the event, reflecting the global interest in harmonised pharmacy technician education and mobility.
Invited speakers included Dr Catriona Bradley, Executive Director of the Irish Institute of Pharmacy (IIOP), who delivered a keynote address titled “Navigating Change: Building the Future of Pharmacy Technicians Together”. Her presentation represented the Irish pharmacy and pharmacy technician sector, highlighting opportunities for professional development and collaboration across Europe.
Discussions emphasised the diversity of regulatory frameworks across countries and the importance of continued European cooperation to support harmonised standards, professional recognition, and sustainable mobility pathways, as the project concludes its activities.
As the project moves towards formal closure, the partnerships and frameworks developed through PharmTech Mobility will continue to shape the future of pharmacy technician education across Europe, with TU Dublin providing leadership and coordination across all project activities.
